Financial Advisor, Financial Services Representative
Charlie is a financial advisor affiliated with Baystate Financial. He and his team specialize in helping busy, successful professionals organize their financial lives to take the stress out of planning.
For many of the earlier years of his practice, Charlie focused almost exclusively on serving the needs of Boston area physicians and their families. While this remains a focus, the practice has since grown significantly to serve other professionals and business owners all over the United States.
Charlie holds a degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
He lives in Boston’s South End with his husband, Mason. When not at the office, Charlie and Mason can be found on their patio with a book or garden spade in hand.
Sybil Durgin, CFP®
Financial Planning Director
Sybil and Charlie work closely together to develop personalized financial plans for clients. Sybil is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and has over 20 years of experience in financial services. Throughout the course of her career, Sybil has developed a wealth of technical planning knowledge that she brings to the table for each of our clients.
Sybil officially joined Charlie’s team in 2017. She had joined Baystate Financial in 2013 as the firm’s Director of Financial Planning overseeing all fee-based financial plans developed at the firm. Prior to joining Baystate, Sybil was Senior Consultant/Team Lead of MetLife Financial Planning. In this role she developed and delivered technical training to financial planners across the country and partnered with MetLife Legal and Compliance to develop and oversee the quality of advice standards for financial planning. She is frequently invited to be a guest lecturer at local universities, including Suffolk Law School.
Sybil lives in Jamaica Plain. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Chapter of the FSP and an active member of the FPA. When not at the office, you can find her volunteering at her daughter’s school, supporting Girls Rock Boston and attempting to play guitar.
Evan R. Shifley, CLU®
Evan’s primary responsibilities include client service, managing the day-to-day operations of the practice, and assisting with the development of financial plans.
He holds the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and received his degree in Economics & Mathematics from St. Lawrence University. While at St. Lawrence, Evan was a four-year member of the varsity football team.
Evan lives in Boston with his girlfriend Madison. During his free time, he enjoys golfing, reading, watching the Patriots and eating out in Boston’s North End.
Paraplanner/Client Services Coordinator
Indrani provides client service and coordinates all new business for the practice. In addition, she oversees the financial planning process and is closely involved in data collection and financial analysis.
Indrani holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and also has a master’s degree in Accounting from a university in India.
She lives in Boston with her husband and twelve-year-old son. She likes to run, cook and play tennis.
Charlotte’s primary responsibilities include client service, managing the day-to-day operations of the practice, and assisting with the development of financial plans.
Charlotte recently moved to Jamaica Plain in Boston, MA from New Haven, CT with her fiancé, Michael, where she was working as an Operations Director at Northwestern Mutual for the last 3 years. Charlotte graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2013 with her B.A. in Sociology and has extensive Customer Service experience as well as a passion for organizing. In her free time, she likes to be outdoors and in nature, spend time with family, and try new food.

Jennifer Shea, J.D*, MBA
Estate and Business Planning
Jennifer Shea is an Attorney by education and heads up the Estate and Business Planning department at Baystate Financial. In this role, Jennifer works with Charlie to provide subject matter expertise to help identify and create customized solutions for clients. Jennifer is well-versed in all areas of financial planning and has developed particular expertise in the areas of estate planning, philanthropy, and retirement.
Jennifer received a B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University, J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, and M.B.A. from Syracuse University School of Management. While in law school, she served as Executive Editor of the Syracuse Law Review. Jennifer has also attained the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ designation along with the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, which is awarded by the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Board of Standards.
Prior to joining Baystate Financial Services, Jennifer was a Senior Planning Specialist at Merrill Lynch and an associate at a boutique trust and estate law firm in Boston. She has experience in estate planning, estate administration, trust administration and the related areas of estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
Jennifer is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association, Boston Estate Planning Council and the Trusts and Estates Consortium.
Herbert Daroff, J.D.*, CFP
Estate and Business Planning
Herb is an attorney by education and very proud to be a financial advisor by profession. He has been actively involved in the financial services industry since 1973.
Herb is on the faculty at Bentley University in Waltham, MA, and graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering in 1975, and Temple University – School of Law with a J.D. in 1979.
Herb is Past President of the Greater Boston Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP, now the Financial Planning Association, FPA) and served as a member of the national IAFP Ethics Committee.
Herb’s creativity, experience, and resourcefulness enable him to work very well with clients and their professional advisory team in order to implement responsive solutions for financial objectives.
